“Welcome to the 2015 Exmoor Targa Rally organised by Tavern Motor Club with support from Burnham-on-Sea and Minehead Motor Clubs on Saturday 3rd October 2015.
As there is no Endurance Road Rally Championship in 2015, we have devised a shorter and more compact route which provides good value for money. The event will be run under a Targa Road Rally permit thus allowing Road Rally cars to compete alongside Endurance Rally cars.
To keep the landowners happy, Road Rally cars will be subject to safety and tyre restrictions (see SR 6).
The format of the event will be as follows:
The start will be at K&R Mitcubishi, Taunton, just off junction 25 on the M5.
The first car will leave at 10.30 with a run out to Porlock Hill for the first Special Tests. Further Special Tests on Forestry Commission land will bring competitors to the lunch halt at Raleghs Cross Inn.
Similar Special Tests will be run in the afternoon before competitors return to the Finish, also at Raleghs Cross Inn, where an evening meal will be provided, allowing competitors to socialise while waiting for the results.
We have worked hard to reduce the entry fee to £195 but still provide 40-45 miles of top quality roads and tracks on Forestry Commission land and Porlock Hill. The Entry Fee also includes the evening meal at the Finish.
The route will be defined by a tulip road book and/or marked maps and diagrams, for both the link sections and competitive sections. No maps are required to complete the route, but 1:50,000 OS maps can be carried if desired.
For the novice we will again have a Clubmans event open to any member of Tavern Motor Club (temporary membership is available).
We have negotiated a rate of £70.50 per double/twin room at the Holiday Inn Express, Taunton for Friday night (see SR 27).
