“Welcome to our fifth running of the Myotis Rally as a navigational rally. The event has been developed since 2010 into a modern navigational rally that is appropriate to the time of year, locality and resources currently available to most motor clubs. We have settled on a format that you, the competitor, have told us will challenge both crew members and that you will also enjoy.
As usual, it will start from Devizes, on 19th April 2014, with a route of around 130 miles. ALL of the competitive sections will once more be held on private land. Most of these will be on roads that have been built to ‘all weather standard’ for military use and are similar to the best forestry roads. The route will be defined by printed maps .There will be a number of tests timed to the second. We have always listened carefully to what competitors have told us after the previous years’ events and are confident that we are giving you the event that you want.
We aim to once more run an event in an area of Southern England that very rarely sees a rally car. Because of the format of the event and the area where the roads are located, we sincerely hope that the event will go unnoticed by the public but will be enjoyed by all competitors.
The event will build on the success of our previous offerings as we continue to strive to produce a challenging event for you. Once again, there will be no plot and bash, marked maps will be used by all crews and there will be tests timed to the second. We have negotiated the use of some recently built roads and again found others that are previously unused for rallying of any sort. This has given us the opportunity to give a ‘rest’ to some roads that have been used on previous events, particularly those that were quick and less of a challenge for crew members.
The highly praised Full English breakfast will once again be provided at the Bear Hotel in Devizes. You will be able to sit and chat whilst the slick work of our friends from rallyroots.com produces your results. We appreciate our marshal’s support and a free breakfast will be provided at the finish venue.
Please note the closing date for entries is 11th April 2014 and that we have to restrict entries to 50 crews.”
