“Welcome to the 21st Ross Traders Historic Tour 2013 organised by Ross and District Motor Sports Ltd on Saturday 20th July 2013.
2013 will see more changes from last year. Will Rogers has once again taken on the event and has promised some different scenery and an exciting new test venue located within the Forest on motorway smooth gravel roads whilst returning to the smooth tarmac and non damaging gravel mixed surface venue of Chepstow Racecourse. Throughout all the tests, we will retain our Solo-style numbered and arrowed cones system to help show the route. Will has worked hard to make sure the
entry fee is the same as 2012!
The total route will be about 160 miles on public roads and we have squeezed about 108 miles into regularity, split into five or six sections. The navigation on the 2013 event will NOT be difficult. Some of the route information will be given out in our comprehensive road book and there will be some sections to pre-plot. Other sections will be ‘ready to go’ giving you the first five miles (or so) as pre-plot with the rest of the route given at the Regularity Start. Also a couple will be easy Plot & Bash. Look on our website for the 2009 and 2010 navigation. www.rossmotorsports.co.uk to help warm the taste buds!
There is another new start venue this year. Starting in the Heart of the Royal Forest of Dean at Beechenhurst lodge situated near Speech House hotel. Beechenhurst will host both the Friday and Saturday noise and scrutineering and will also host a fascinating Motorsport archive sale of old Autosport and Motoring News dating back over 25 years along with an exhibition on Friday ONLY. You can purchase a soft drinks and food on the Friday. The Forest of Dean has many places to eat and stay. All competitors will be able to purchase breakfast, tea or coffee from the start venue at Beechenhurst to get your day going! See menu below!
The entry fee this year includes a hot lunch with dessert at a test venue with tea or coffee, and an after-event cold buffet meal at our own clubhouse in Ross-on-Wye town centre where the bar will be open while the results are being calculated. There will be up to 17 tests and the roads along the route offer spectacular scenery including views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley.
This year you may enter electronically. Either download an entry form from the Club website, or e-mail the secretary to send you one. Complete it on screen, save it and e-mail it to the secretary, having paid your entry fee by BACS to the Club Account. Details in ASR 10.
We look forward to sharing the delights of the Ross Traders Historic Tour 2013 with you. For those needing accommodation before and/or after
